Bindu Nanubhai Desai (born 1941), also known as Bindu, is a former Indian actress who was famous for her villainous roles in Hindi cinema in the 1970s. With a career spanning four decades and over 160 films, she became an iconic "glamour world queen" after her debut in Anpadh (1962). Despite a conservative family background and the demise of her father when she was 13, she pursued her acting dream and received seven Filmfare Award nominations for her performances in films such as Kati Patang (1970) and Do Raaste (1969).
Early life and family
Born in Gujarat to filmmaker Nanubhai Desai and actress Jyotsna, Bindu was the eldest of her siblings.
Her family was deeply involved in the film industry, which helped her secure her first role in the 1962 film Anpadh.
At the age of 13, his father passed away, leaving him with the responsibility to support his family.
